With the November 6 presidential election fast approaching, where does the Obama administration stand on Cuba, a long-running foreign-policy challenge? In January 2011, President Barack Obama signed a number of measures into law to expand “purposeful travel” to Cuba for U.S. citizens, increase the allowed amount of non-family remittances to the island, and to permit charter flights from the United States to Cuba.
