Sharp decline in U.S. travel to Cuba spurs overall drop in tourism for the island

Cuba had a 7 percent decline in overall tourism during the first three months of 2018, partly caused by a sharp drop in U.S. travel to the island, according to official data released Tuesday.

American travel to the Caribbean island is only 56.6 percent of what it was in 2017, said Michel Bernal, the commercial director for the Cuban Tourism Ministry during a news conference on Tuesday.w
