Miami, FL- The Cuba Study Group is pleased to announce the third installment of its Cuba Entrepreneurial Exchange Program, which will take place in Miami from August 10th-14th. This exchange will bring four chefs from Cuba’s private culinary (paladares) scene to Miami for a week of exchanges with Miami-based chefs. 

The Cuba Entrepreneurial Exchange is a project of the Cuba Study Group's Small Business Initiative that pairs Cuban entrepreneurs with their counterparts in Miami to encourage collaboration and develop skills. It aims to reduce barriers between Cuban and locally-based entrepreneurs and educates Miami entrepreneurs about the realities of private entrepreneurship in Cuba, highlighting both challenges and opportunities. This exchange is made possible through the generous support of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

Next weeks’ participants include: Chef Luis Alberto Alfonso Pérez of El Gringo Viejo, Chef Michael Alejandro Calvo Oviedo of Atelier, Chef Yamilet Magariño Andux of Andux, and Chef Gilberto Smith Álvarez of Pizzanella. 

Participants will be hosted by some of Miami’s top chefs, including: Executive Chef Wolfgang Birk of Area 31, Chef Bernie Matz of Bodega, Chef Alberto Cabrera of Bread and Butter, Chef Santiago Gomez of Cantina la 20,  Michelle Bernstein of Cena and Crumb, Chef Douglas Rodriguez of De Rodriguez Catering, Chef Tomas Prado of Golden Fig, Chef Victor Santos of Tuyo, Chef Miguel Aguilar of Wynwood Kitchen and Bar and Chef Steve Hosang of Sushi Maki, among others. 

Each participating Cuban chef will spend each day at a different restaurant working alongside their hosts, providing them with a variety of cuisines, techniques and styles.. The week will conclude with a demo for students at Miami Dade College’s Culinary Institute and an interactive culinary experience at Tuyo restaurant benefiting future exchanges, where Chefs participating in the exchange and their Miami-based hosts will demo a number of exciting dishes to one-hundred guests.
