Cuban-American lawmakers punish families

What is it with Florida Cuban-American Republican lawmakers and their constant attacks on the Cuban family? Once again we have to endure the sorry spectacle of fascist legislation to restrict our right to travel and to provide financial support to our families in Cuba sponsored by Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart and strongly supported by Sen. Marco Rubio and Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and David Rivera.
Why do they oppose long overdue Cuban family reunification and reconciliation? Why do they oppose family remittances that provide food for the hungry, medicine for the sick and clothing for the needy? Why do they oppose people to people contact and the free exchange of ideas that’s having positive repercussions on island politics? Even Yoani Sanchez, the prominent Cuban blogger, tweeted her opposition to this legislation.
And just today we learned that Rep. Diaz-Balart also came out against government funding of the Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba, a Miami nonprofit that helps support civil society and democracy on the island. How hypocritical can you get?
Cuban Americans are once again cheated by their Republican representatives whose allegiance is to their financiers and lobbyists instead of the desires of the majority of their constituents.
Either we wake up and vote them out of office or promote a recall of all these Cuban-American lawmakers that are out to punish the Cuban family.
